 2024 SUMMER YOUTH  RECREATIONAL

SOCCER REGISTRATION

U4 - U15

Registration Information

Welcome to another exciting summer of soccer!

SEASON:

12 weeks, includes two Saturday Festivals/ Tournaments (June 8 & Aug. 17).

DATES:

The season will kick off the week of May 27, 2024 and ends  on Saturday, August 17, 2024 with our Closing Festival/ Tournament

 NEW for 2024 OUTDOOR:

  • Girls specific programming! We will offer a Girls Development League at the following age groups U5/U6 Timbits, U7/U8 and U9/U10. The U5/U6 and U7/U8 divisions will be available in Uxbridge and Port Perry. The U9/U10 program will initially be “dual-centre” but we will evaluate registration and will split to single venues if interest is high.
  • This of course also means we will be offering Boys divisions at U5, U6, U7/U8 and U9/U10.
  • : Should registration numbers be lower than expected we reserve the right to alter the format to COED.
  • Our U9/U10 and U11/U12 programs will have practice & game on same evening. Session will begin with a 25 minute practice session lead by club coaches, and after a short water break this will lead straight into game play.
  • Our U15 COED program follows a league schedule with scores and standings. Due to low participation in practices in prior years, the program will be game night only.
  • Our U11/U12 and U13-U15 divisions remain “dual-centre”

PROGRAM FORMATS:

U4: Our youngest division of U4 (b. 2020) requires the full  participation of one (1) parent/guardian on the field, each week, with your child. Club coaches will lead a program of fun, imaginative activities designed for adult/ child engagement with the ball. A short scrimmage will be included at the end of each session.  Weekly session duration- 45 minutes.

U5: Parents of U5 (b. 2019) players are encouraged to participate with your child; on-field parent participation is not mandatory, but welcome. Club coaches will lead a program of fun, imaginative activities designed for engagement with the ball. A short scrimmage will be included at the end of each session. Weekly session duration- 45 minutes.

All other development age groups (U6-U12):  Parents are not required to accompany children on the field. These programs will incorporate a short practice lead by staff coaches with the support of team volunteer coaches, focused on maximum touches on the ball for each individual player. These sessions will form elements of a “ball mastery” curriculum being adopted by the club. Teams will then (after a short water break) move into their scheduled game in which they will be encouraged to attempt the technique outlined in the practice. Weekly duration varies by age group.

PARENT VOLUNTEERS:

The soccer club operates successful programs due to the participation of Parent Volunteers who are relied upon to assist with team activities: attendance sheets, child coordination, and basic team instruction and cheer-leading during training sessions and games. No parental soccer experience is necessary to be a team volunteer.  The soccer club does attempt to enable every interested local child to play soccer, and therefore the number of children is large, and the club is dependent on the help of 1 -3 parents per team. Players benefit from the additional participation and encouragement of parent volunteers who support the team, alongside the program delivery and training sessions provided by our staff coaches.

Please consider volunteering for your child's team.

Volunteers are asked to sign up before April 30 to allow proper time for the formal volunteer application process and for parents to receive an orientation and instruction prior to the start of the season. Time commitment is one night per week and support from club staff is available at all times during the on-field activities. Volunteering is an amazing way to give back to the community. Come join us!

RESPECT IN SPORT for PARENTs PROGRAM

The Respect in Sport for Parents module is mandatory for all families who register their children for soccer in Durham Region.  Once parent certification is complete, it is not necessary to repeat the certification each year.

All registrants age 4 through 18 are required to have one parent/guardian with the Respect in Sport for Parents Certification. Players will not be rostered until proof of completion of the module has been verified by the Club with the Respect Group. Parents completing the module for the first time do not need to inform the club upon completion.

It is helpful if Parents/Guardians have this certification number available when registering on the Club's online registration system.  You will be prompted to enter your Respect in Sport for Parents Certification Number on the Player Information page.  Certification numbers can be searched on the Respect Group web site:  https://support.respectgroupinc.com/197228-English.

Your registration may continue if you are unable to enter your certification number however, you must be registered in the North Durham United FC Respect in Sport database by March 31 in order to enable your player to be placed on a team roster, whether you completed the certification this year or in a previous year.

If you have never completed the Respect in Sport for Parents module,  confirmation of your completion is due to the Club no later than March 31, 2024. Proof of completion should be emailed to: info@northdurhamunited.com.

If you are new to the Respect in Sport program, it is beneficial to complete the module before registering your player. Ensure that each soccer player you plan to register here is associated with the club, North Durham United FC, in the Respect in Sport database through your Respect in Sport account. The Club is automatically notified of your certificate completion by the Respect in Sport Group. Further information is available on the club website under Registration.
